GrazingInfo.com is operated by Vaughan Jones of GrazingInfo Ltd, based in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Vaughan was born in South Africa in 1931, and from the age of six wanted to dairy farm. His parents' two acres near Durban had a few cows, which impressed him in that grass went in, milk and fertiliser came out, and every year another was born.

Vaughan did a two year commercial economics course, followed by two years at Weston Agricultural College, Mooi River, Natal, on its 1,000 ha mixed farm, gaining honours (99%) in dairying - his favourite subject. These two courses helped develop his profit-oriented and practical attitudes to farming.

Moving to New Zealand in 1954, Vaughan met his future wife Auriel on the boat, and they married the following year, with Auriel becoming an equal partner in their farming business.

Many years of converting peat to highly productive dairy and beef grazing land, and developing innovative ideas such as the world's first spinner drain diggers, chisel ploughs and straight-rail, 60 degree herringbone farm dairy (swing-over parlor), led to their being chosen as one of the most improved dairy farmers in the Waikato.

As well as his successful farming ventures, Vaughan was the first Exhibits chairman of the world famous New Zealand Agricultural Fieldays, later becoming general manager of what is one of the world's biggest agricultural events. Vaughan then moved on to becoming the Group Marketing Manager for the Gallagher Group, an outstanding New Zealand agricultural technology exporter.

At 77 years of age, Vaughan is still helping farmers in New Zealand and around the world to change to grazing which produces less milk, but more profit because of the lower costs.
